熱情開朗的Teacher Shey(雪老師)

Hello there! My name is Teacher Shey! I am 34 years old and an Aquarian. I have been doing this English online teaching for about five years now. I’ve taught Koreans and French students and I am really excited in teaching Taiwanese students this time. I am a graduate of Broadcast Communication and then I took have a post graduate course which is Teacher Education. After that, I earned some units in Graduate School with the program Masters of Arts in English Language Teaching. Just a year ago, I started going to Law School. I am not enrolled for this semester but I am planning to go back and finish it. I went to the same university with for all those courses, which is the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

哈囉!我是Shey（雪）老師，今年34歲的天瓶座。過去五年的線上教學經驗中，曾教過韓國與法國的學生，這次即將與臺灣學生接觸體驗令我相當興奮。大學與研究所時期我分別攻讀了廣播通訊與師資培育。之後，我也在研究所期內修習了幾個英語教學文學碩士的學分。大約一年前左右，我開始修習法學院的課，這學期雖然還沒有正式註冊，卻也一心想著要重回母校完成法學課程。這些年來的所有課程全部都一貫在菲律賓綜合科技大學完成。

I am a very passionate person. Whenever I put my mind into something, I make sure that I give everything to the task that I am supposed to do and finish it. I do not go for mediocrity. I believe that when you give everything and put your heart on it, things will definitely get accomplished. I am a positive person. I would rather put my energy on the positive things in life than dwell on the negative, which is extremely tiring. I am a fun-loving person. I enjoy being with friends and people I love. I love travelling with them, cooking for them, or just chit-chatting and having a great time with them. I am a very loyal person and I can definitely keep secrets. Friends and family members, even strangers for that matter, often come to me for advice.

我是一個極度熱情的人，只要我下定決心要做到的事，我就一定會盡自己的每一分力去完成。我深信有志者事盡成。同時，積極正向也是我的個性，只看光明面而不會有負面思想。輕鬆搞笑是我的另一面，與朋友和家人歡樂相處也是我相當喜歡的生活。我喜歡和他們一同旅行、做菜或是聊聊天而已，這些都讓我非常享受。

Teaching is my passion. I know that learning the English language can be pretty tough for some learners. (hanging) I believe that the trainer must first recognise that the learners are not just students learning another language. They are people and they have stories, they have their own reasons on in why do they want to be a better English speaker. It’s the teacher’s job to find those things out. And well, through that, a teacher will be able to give to the learner’s the things that they want and need to be successful in life.

教學始終是我的熱情，我知道學英文對某些學生來講並不容易。所以教學者不能單單只看到學生學語言這件事。學生們也有很多自己的故事與感受，這些原因是他們學習英文與成長的動力。與學生交心使學生更有動力是老師們最該盡的職責。只有做到這些，老師們才能讓學生源源不絕地學習並使他們在生活中更上層樓。

I am not only going to teach my students grammar and fluency, I am here to make their lives better, being able enable them to talk to native speakers during business meetings or when they go travelling, or perhaps help them get that promotion in their companies, or being able enable them to be admitted to the best university in the country. I want to make a difference in their lives. I know that I have what it takes and that I am more than ready to give them back to my students. My mentor told me once that before you become an effective teacher, you have to be a good friend first. And that’s what I am. I am not only a teacher, I am a friend.

當然，我也不僅僅是個英文教學者的角色，改變他們的生活也是其中之一，在商業會議與旅行途中更敢開口，在公司中獲得提拔，在學校中獲得認可等等。我想為他們的生活做些改變。我知道我有能力可以使他們更好。我的老師告訴我，在成為師生前先與他們做朋友，這就是我現在正在做的，我不只是教導你英文而已，同時也是個不錯的朋友。
